Dhaka: Kiwi team’s acting captain Lockie Ferguson believes that playing in the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh is a good opportunity to strengthen the team’s preparations before the World Cup. New Zealand has rested many of its players for the series against Bangladesh starting on Thursday. ‘Look, we are professionals and we value every match,’ Ferguson was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz at a press conference at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. It is a big series for us and very challenging. So, from our point of view it is good preparation for the World Cup.
He further said, ‘We know how strong Bangladesh is in its domestic conditions. So, it is a good challenge for us against them. With the absence of Tim Southee and Matt Henry, Ferguson will be needed in the fast bowling line-up and he believes that left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult also has a big responsibility on his shoulders. Asked about his thoughts on captaining New Zealand for the first time, Ferguson said: ‘Obviously it’s a big honor to be captain.’
