But to avoid dangerous air pollution, ICC has installed water sprinklers and ‘air purifiers’ (air purifying devices) in the dressing room. “The BCCI has engaged the services of renowned respiratory disease specialist Dr Randeep Guleria to assess the situation in Delhi ahead of Monday’s match and provide independent expert advice,” an ICC spokesperson told PTI.

He said, ‘Under the guidance of Dr Guleria, the venue team carried out relief work throughout the day which included sprinkling water around the venue and installing air purifiers in the dressing rooms and match officials’ areas.’ These steps have helped in reducing the pollution levels in the surrounding area. The spokesperson said, ‘The AQI inside the stadium was monitored throughout the day which has come down to acceptable levels by Dr Guleria.’

Sri Lanka did not practice

Sri Lanka decided not to practice in the open on Saturday. Bangladesh practiced wearing masks at Feroze Shah Kotla last evening. However, Bangladesh had canceled its opening practice session on Friday due to air pollution. The Bangladesh team came out for practice this afternoon and the batsmen honed their skills at the nets.
