Mumbai, circle organization: ICC has said that the pitch of the third Test match played in the four-match Test series between India and Australia is bad. Otherwise, they would have given Bordala 14 days to appeal. As reported by Cricbuzz or the website, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has formally protested the poor rating given by the International Cricket Council to the Indore pitch.
BCCI officials have sent a formal letter of rejection to the cricket board and the cricket board’s official Chris Broad has demanded a review of the playing field at Holkar Stadium for being rated as poor, according to cricket circles. A bad rating carries three demerit points from the ICC, which will remain active for a rolling period of five years.
According to the sources of BCCI, appeals are always made because the ratings are given in haste. The match referee’s decision came a few hours after the end of the Test, which would have been unusual for the ICC in such cases. BCCI officials feel that reviews are warranted and if possible they can reduce the decision. ICC’s two-member committee comes to target BCCI’s objection.
ICC has already reconsidered such cases. Alikdech ICC overturned its decision on Rawalpindi’s pitch, which initially would have been declared ‘sheer than expected’ and would have been given one demerit point. However, after an appeal by the Pakistan Cricket Board, the ICC revised its rating and sought its decision.
