New Delhi: BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma has resigned from his post following a sting operation conducted by a TV news channel. Sources have given this information to IANS. Chetan Sharma had shared inside information about the team and the selection process. According to sources, he has sent his resignation to BCCI Secretary Jai Shah, which has been accepted. Earlier in a sting operation, the 57-year-old Sharma was heard saying that Indian players have their own doctors outside cricket, who are always available to them.
If he is 85 percent fit then they tell us to let him play but doctors don’t allow him, this problem comes.. players want to play, players never say no. “If not even at 80 per cent, these people.. they are such scoundrels, they will quietly go to the corner and take an injection and say they are fit,” Sharma reportedly said during a sting operation. The chief selector also reportedly revealed that there was a huge ego clash between former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly which led to the right-handed batsman losing the captaincy.
When the player grows up a bit, he feels that he has grown up a lot. It has become bigger than the board. Then he feels that no one can harm him. He feels that cricket will end without him. Has this ever happened? Many greats have come and gone. Cricket is where it lives, he said. He said that he (Virat) said… Sourav Ganguly had never said this to me (about reconsidering the captaincy role). So it became a big issue. Either the President is lying or Virat is telling the truth. It became a big issue.. then there was a ruckus.
