BCCI paid income tax of Rs 1,159 crore

New Delhi (Best Hindu News): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has paid income tax of Rs 1,159 crore in the financial year 2021-22, which is 37 percent more than the previous year.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chowdhary gave this information to the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question on Tuesday. He also presented the income tax paid by the BCCI and the details of its income and expenditure based on the returns filed in the last five years.
This increase in income tax was followed by a decline in 2019–20, which was followed by a decrease in its income, as cricket was suspended for several months during the Kovid-19 pandemic and, when held, due to bio-bubble Expenses increased.
In the financial year 2020-21, BCCI paid Rs 844.92 crore in income tax, which is less than Rs 882.29 crore paid in 2019-20. In the financial year 2019, the board paid Rs 815.08 crore as tax, which is higher than Rs 596.63 crore paid in 2017-18.
In the financial year 2021-22, BCCI earned revenue of Rs 7,606 crore, while its expenditure was around Rs 3,064 crore.
