Navi Mumbai: India’s fast bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya is making a comeback to competitive cricket in the DY Patil T20 Cup starting in Navi Mumbai from Monday.
Hardik Pandya will captain the Reliance 1 team, which will begin its campaign against Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) in the opening match of the competition.
Pandya was out of competitive cricket after suffering a left ankle injury during India’s World Cup 2023 league match against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19.
Hardik was kept on recovery plus rehab for a long time and now he is ready to return to the field once again.
He was roped in by Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans and became the captain of the team, replacing Rohit Sharma ahead of IPL 2024 starting on March 22.
Pandya is leading the Reliance 1 team in the DY Patil T20 tournament, which also includes players like Tilak Verma, Nehal Wadhera, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal and Vishnu Vinod.
Ishan Kishan, who has been out of competitive cricket after pulling out of India’s Test tour of South Africa last year due to personal reasons. He is expected to play in the tournament for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
