London. Ben Stokes will not play the upcoming T20 World Cup. He has withdrawn his name from the upcoming T20 World Cup and in this regard he has also informed the England Cricket Board (ECB) that his name should not be considered for the selection of the team.

In the last T20 World Cup, when England became world champions, the winning runs came from Stokes’ bat.

Stokes also took back his retirement from ODI for the ODI World Cup last year. However, in the Test series against India, he was able to bowl only a total of four overs. Stokes has played only two T20 matches since the last T20 World Cup and both of them were for Chennai Super Kings last season.

However, Stokes had also withdrawn his name from IPL this year. The ECB has issued a statement quoting Stokes, in which Stokes has said, “I am working hard to prepare myself as an all-rounder in every format. This goal is to be out of the IPL and T20 World Cup. Will help me achieve this.”
