Bhubaneswar to host IDCA T-20 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf from September 25

Bhubaneswar The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) T-20 National Cricket Championship for the Deaf will begin here from September 25, with 19 teams taking part in the seven-day tournament.
The teams, divided into four different groups, will play a total of 42 matches against each other before reaching the final to be held at the East Coast Railway Sports Association Stadium on October 1.
Organized by the Odisha Deaf Cricket Association, the matches will be played on four different grounds in Bhubaneswar. The final match will be played in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The champion will receive a prize of Rs 1,00,000, while the runner-up will receive Rs 50,000. The best individual players in batting, bowling, fielding, Super Six and other categories will receive a sum of Rs 5,000 each. Player of the match will be given a prize of Rs 2100.
Speaking about the upcoming tournament, Sumit Jain, President, IDCA, said: “We hope that the awareness about taking up sports as a career option, especially by the youth with disabilities, will continue to grow. It’s not about sports; it’s also a powerful medium for self-expression. Together, we can continue to build a world where everyone has the opportunity to shine.”
“We are excited for the upcoming Hearing Impaired Cricket Tournament to be held in Odisha and wish all the participating teams good luck and success,” he said.
IDCA CEO Roma Balwani said, “We are happy to be in Bhubaneswar for the first time to play 43 matches on four grounds with a huge presence of 19 teams. The closing ceremony will be held on October 1, during which the winning teams and players will be honored for their exceptional performance.(IANS)
