In the year 1981-82, some cricket loving youth of Ramgarh formed Ramgarh Cricket Club and organized a cricket tournament. The tournament was played at Ramgarh football ground. Bishan Singh Bedi attended its final match as chief guest. Famous cricket commentator Ravi Chaturvedi and former cricket captain of unified Bihar Daljit Singh also came with him. The team that won the final match was honored by Bishan Singh Bedi and other guests.

He is survived by his wife Anju, son Angad and daughter Neha. A close friend of hers said that Bedi breathed her last this morning at her home. Recently he had a knee operation. The infection spread and he could not recover from it.

Bedi was born in 1946 in Amritsar. He played 67 tests for India and took 266 wickets. He achieved the feat of taking five wickets 14 times in an innings and 10 wickets once in the match. He was part of the golden quartet of spinners of Indian cricket, which included Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrashekhar and Srinivas Venkataraghavan. He was a key part of India’s bowling unit for more than a decade between 1966 and 1978. Bedi was the manager of the Indian cricket team for some time during the tour of New Zealand and England in 1990.
