Panchkula. High-flyer Pawan Sehrawat’s super raid in the final seconds helped Telugu Titans force U Mumba to share the points in the 10th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). Thanks to Pawan’s brilliant performance, Titans tied Mumba’s team 45-45 in the 130th match of the season played at Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday. With this, both the teams had to bid goodbye to this season with a tie.
For Telugu Titans, Pawan scored 14 points and Robin Choudhary scored six points, while for U Mumba, Guman Singh scored eight points and Amirmohammed Zafardanesh scored 11 points. U Mumba bid goodbye to this season with 45 points from 22 matches, six wins, 13 losses and three ties. Meanwhile, Telugu Titans finished the season with 21 points after two wins, 19 losses and one tie in 22 matches. This tie was the 11th tie of this season between the two teams.
High-flyer Pawan Sehrawat dashed early in the contest as U Mumba took a 5-3 lead in the first five minutes of play. But Pawan was soon revived and Telugu Titans achieved a 5-5 draw. In the sixth minute of the match, Pawan again put the Titans team ahead by hitting a super raid. After this, U Mumba took the lead by 11-7 in the first 10 minutes of play by continuously taking points.
Meanwhile, Pawan again hit a super raid and in the next minute, U Mumba’s team was all out. After all out Mumba, Telugu Titans scored 13-12. After this, at one time both the teams were tied at 16-16 and then Telugu scored 19-16. But U Mumba made a comeback and leveled the match at 19-19 at half time. After the start of the second half, Jafdanesh gave more points to U Mumba by scoring a super raid. After this Mumba all out Telugu Titans and took the score to 26-20.
Mumba did not look back after this and continued taking points. By the 27th minute Mumba had a lead of nine points. Meanwhile, Shankar Gadai saved Telugu Titans from being all out with a two-point super raid. Pawan Sehrawat completed his 13th Super-10 in the 30th minute of the match. The Titans then started to make a comeback as by the 30th minute, U Mumba had only a five-point lead and the score was 32-27. Meanwhile, Telugu Titans all out U Mumba and this reduced Mumba’s lead to just two points. Guman Singh was tackled in the 32nd minute and Telugu Titans leveled the score at 32-32.
Pawan completed his 200 raid points this season by taking one point in the very next raid. Till the 35th minute of the match, U Mumba had a lead of three points and the score was 38-35. In the very next raid, Hyder Ali Iqrami eliminated Telugu Titans with a three-point super raid and also got them all out. With this, Mumba’s team took a commanding lead of 44-35. But in the last minute, three defenders of Mumba got themselves out and Pawan’s raid gave four points to Telugu Titans.
Mumba now had a lead of only two points and only one player was left on the mat. Zafardanesh was out in the last second and Telugu Titans got three points. With this, Telugu Titans tied U Mumba 45-45 and were forced to share the points. Both the teams also said goodbye to this season with a tie.
