In the Hockey World Cup-2023, the matter of black marketing and arbitrary distribution of tickets for the ongoing matches at Birsa Munda Stadium, Rourkela is in headlines these days. BJP and Congress leaders are continuously demonstrating and agitating against this. Meanwhile, RTI activist Manoj Satpathy has also complained to the Prime Minister’s Office about black marketing of tickets and demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. Manoj Satpathy has complained to the PMO Grievance Cell that on one side the World Cup matches are going on and on the other side the seats in the stadium are empty. The ticket is not available to the general public and is being distributed through the workers of a particular political party.
Manoj Satpathy said that if tickets for the World Cup matches are needed, it has been made mandatory to go to a particular political party. The district administration has completely failed to monitor the sale of tickets. As a result, a strange situation has arisen. On one hand tickets are not available, on the other hand the leaders of a particular political party are distributing it and the most unfortunate is that the seats in the stadium are remaining vacant during the World Cup in the nursery of hockey in the country. In such a case, if the central agency investigates, then it will become clear how the whole scam took place. Now only selected matches of the World Cup are left in Rourkela. If some step is taken immediately, then possibly the people of Rourkela will get a chance to watch the match.
Defamation due to sale of tickets and distribution of passes: BJP
The fame that the city should have got by organizing the Hockey World Cup, that fame has been turned into infamy by the petty politics of a political party. BJP leader Nihar Rai said these things. He said that surprisingly all this happened under the nose of the administration and no prevention was done. As a result, the residents of the city were very disappointed, who wanted to watch the match by paying money. But, they were denied. This situation is telling that no matter how big the event is, the politics of a particular party is dominating in every situation and everyone is failing to stop it.
