Mumbai (Uttam Hindu News): Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday thanks to Ravindra Jadeja’s (20/3) matchless bowling and Ajinkya Rahane’s (61) stormy half-century.
Mumbai scored 157 runs in 20 overs playing the first match of the season at home ground Wankhede Stadium. Chennai achieved this target easily in 18.1 overs.
Ishaan Kishan top-scored with 32 runs while Tim David contributed 31 runs in a disappointing match for Mumbai. Apart from these two, none of the Mumbai batsmen could contribute significantly and the hosts collapsed in front of the spin of Chennai.
Rahane, making his debut for Chennai, scored 61 runs in just 27 balls by hitting seven fours and three sixes. He was dismissed in the eighth over of the innings after giving Chennai a strong start, after which Ambati Rayudu (16 balls, 20 runs) hit the winning four to give Chennai their second win in three matches.
