Bhubaneswar (Uttam Hindu News): Chennaiyin FC registered a comfortable 2-0 win against struggling Gokulam Kerala FC in their Kalinga Super Cup Group C match on Tuesday. Aggression was visible from both sides in the initial quarter of the game. For Gokulam this stemmed in part from their inability to control the midfield and undoubtedly still have not recovered from the late defeat in their previous encounter.
The team’s first goal came in the 25th minute, when Connor Shields expertly controlled, turned and converted Ankit Mukherjee’s cross inside the Gokulam box. It was a moment created from scratch, created purely by Shields’ skill and ability inside the box.

However, in between, Chennaiyin found time to secure their points with the help of a very intelligent goal by Irfan Yadav. A red card for Rishad brought Gokulam down to 10 in the last 10 minutes of the game, and from there it was all about damage control. His hopes of a comeback were dashed.
Chennaiyin have completed their win and now need to win against Mumbai City at any cost to top the group.
