As per the report, apart from Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Rajkot and Mumbai will also get to host the showpiece event in India. The 50-over World Cup is scheduled to run for 46 days in India. During this there will be 48 matches.

According to reports, the World Cup schedule has been delayed due to tax exemption issues and visa clearance from Pakistan side. India was earlier awarded the hosting rights for the 2016 T20 World Cup, 2021 T20 World Cup and 2023 ODI World Cup. The report states that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already given assurance to the ICC regarding the approval of the Pakistan team’s visas for the World Cup by the Government of India.

Former champions Pakistan have not played an ICC event in India since 2013. Babar Azam’s Pakistan played the final of ICC World T20 in 2022 against defending ODI champions England.
