A group of children suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) set a new world record by swimming 165 kilometers from Cuddalore to Chennai. 14 children aged between nine to 19 showed amazing commitment and created history by swimming in the coastal region of Tamil Nadu.
This sea swimming expedition was organized in relay format. During this time his trainer was aboard the boat. Satish Shivakumar, founder and chief coach of ‘Yadavi Sports Academy for Special Needs’, said that in this way these children made a ‘world record’.
He said, “I am proud of the commitment and spirit of these children. The sea swimming expedition of these 14 children suffering from autism is more than an achievement.” Autism is a neurological disorder that affects the victim’s interaction with others.
Former Tamil Nadu Director General of Police C Sylendra Babu felicitated the children. He said, “Among the participants, there were three children who swam continuously for 17 kilometers while one girl swam continuously for 10 kilometers.” He showed that disability should not become a hindrance in his path.
