His effort of 17.37m is the second longest jump by an athlete without the aid of wind in the current season. Chitraval is currently training in Cuba under the supervision of coach Yoandri Betanjos. World Junior Championships medalist T Selva Prabhu finished fourth in the same event with an effort of 16.58m.
Practicing with Chitraval, the player also broke the Under-20 national record. Sable and Parul on Saturday set national records in men’s and women’s 5000 meters at the ‘World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Level Event Sound Running Track Festival’ in Los Angeles, USA. Sable clocked 13:19.30 to better his earlier national record (13:25:65). However, he finished 12th in the event. Parul finished ninth with a timing of 15:10:35.
He broke Preeja Sreedharan’s 13-year-old record. Preja’s national record was 15:15.89. Sable’s favorite event is the 3000m steeplechase. Its national record is in his name only. He has already qualified for the men’s 3000m steeplechase event at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. Both Sable and Parul are practicing in the US. Chitrawal, Sable and Parul are all three athletes associated with Inspire Institute of Sports (IIS).
