Dubai . The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy tour got off to a grand start on Monday. The coveted trophy was launched into the stratosphere 1,20,000 feet above the earth before landing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world’s largest cricket stadium.
The trophy was attached to a special stratospheric balloon for its launch into the stratosphere and some stunning shots were captured with the help of 4k cameras.
According to the ICC, the 2023 edition of the trophy tour will be bigger than any previous edition. Fans will be able to watch it in different countries and cities around the world.
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy tour begins on June 27. The silver trophy will travel to 18 countries across the world including Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, USA and host India.
The last full-scale Trophy Tour was held in 2019. Cricket fans around the world will once again get a chance to witness the same festive and carnival atmosphere.
Commenting on the launch of the Trophy Tour, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said: “The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour marks an important milestone in the countdown to the biggest ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup ever. The silver trophy will be handed over to heads of state will pass through.”
