Cyber criminals defrauded 10,040 people of Jharkhand

Aman Tiwari, Ranchi: Cyber criminals have defrauded 10,040 people of Jharkhand to the tune of Rs 6788.98 lakh in a year. This data is between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023. The cases and complaints registered at other places including the helpline number issued for prevention of cyber crime confirm the above figures. According to cyber fraud statistics in Jharkhand, 2,882 complaints were put on hold. At the same time, out of the said amount of fraud, an amount of Rs 556.39 lakh was kept in lien.
The Union Home Ministry has collected the data of complaints registered in various states regarding cyber fraud and the amount defrauded. According to this, during the said period, the highest number of cyber fraud cases across the country were registered in Maharashtra. Here 1,25,153 people had filed complaints of cyber fraud. A total of Rs 99,069.22 lakh has been defrauded from these people. Karnataka is at second place, where 64,301 people had filed complaints of cyber fraud. These people have been defrauded of Rs 66,210.02 lakh.

At the same time, Gujarat is at third place, where 1,21,701 people had filed complaints of cyber fraud during the said period. A total of Rs 65,053.35 lakh has been defrauded by them. In terms of cyber fraud, Haryana is at fourth place and the country’s capital Delhi is at fifth place. During the said period, 76736 people in Haryana have filed complaints of fraud of Rs 41924.75 lakh, while in Delhi 58548 people have filed complaints of fraud of Rs 39,157.86 lakh. At the same time, Bihar is at seventh and Jharkhand at tenth place in this list.
