Melbourne. Dutch legend Diede de Groot won her ninth consecutive Grand Slam title by defeating Japan’s Yui Kamiji 0-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the women’s wheelchair singles final of the Australian Open tennis tournament here.
This is De Groot’s fifth Australian Open and overall 17th Grand Slam title. In the quad wheelchair singles final, second seed Sam Schroder of the Netherlands defeated his compatriot and top seed Niels Vink 6-2, 7-5.
Britain’s top seed Alfie Hewett defeated world number three Tokito Oda of Japan 6-3, 6-1 in the men’s wheelchair singles final.
