Defending champion Medvedev and top seed Alcaraz reach Miami Open quarterfinals

Defending champion Daniil Medvedev won the 350th match of his career by defeating Dominic Cofer in straight sets and reached the quarterfinals of the Miami Open tennis tournament for the fourth consecutive year. Medvedev defeated Kofer 7-6, 6-0 in the match held on Tuesday. Top seed Carlos Alcaraz also reached the last eight with a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 win against 23rd seed Lorenzo Musetti. Eighth seed Dimitrov defeated Hubert Hurkacz 3-6, 6-3, 7-6. Medvedev will face 22nd seed Nicholas Jarry in the last eight, who defeated 22nd seed Caspar Ruud in straight sets 7-6, 6-3. Australian Open champion and second seed Yannick Sinner registered his 19th win in 20 matches this year by defeating Christopher O’Connell 6-4, 6-3.
In the women’s category, fourth seed Elena Rybakin entered the semi-finals by defeating eighth seed Maria Sakari in a tough match 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 in two hours and 48 minutes. Two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka defeated Yulia Putintseva 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 to reach the last four.
