Bangalore (Best Hindu News): Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals by 23 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday thanks to the fine performance of the bowlers after the half-century of Virat Kohli (50).
Batting first, RCB set a target of 175 runs in front of Delhi, in response to which Delhi could only reach 151 runs in 20 overs.
Kohli got RCB off to a strong start, smashing 50 off 34 balls with six fours and a six, although the team’s middle-order could not take advantage of it. RCB, who scored 110 runs in the first 12 overs, could only add 64 runs in the last eight overs due to the failure of the middle order.
Even a modest target of 175 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium proved to be too big for Delhi. Delhi lost their three wickets for just two runs, while half of their team returned to the pavilion for 53 runs. Manish Pandey scored 50 runs in 38 balls with five fours and a six, but all the hopes of the visiting team ended as soon as he was dismissed.
This is Delhi’s fifth defeat in five matches of IPL and they are still unable to open an account in the points table.
