Are you confused between LCD, OLED and AMOLED display on the phone? Which one is better and what is the difference. If you have such questions in your mind, then Nothing has recently launched its Nothing Phone (2) smartphone with OLED display, while Samsung has launched some phones with AMOLED display. Although 5G phones with pOLED or LCD display have also come in the market, but do you know the difference between these displays. Let us know about them in detail.

What does LCD mean? There is a liquid crystal display. LCD display companies are cheaper than OLED. However, limited viewing angles are available with the LCD display. Its backlight is always on. This means that its light will remain on even after watching dark content, whereas this does not happen in OLED screens. Due to this the power consumption is also high.

Meaning of OLED is an organic light emitting diode. OLED displays offer better contrast, more vibrant colors and deeper blacks than LCDs. OLED displays are also thinner, lighter and more flexible. However, companies find OLED displays more expensive than LCDs. Hence, users usually get LCD display in low priced phones.

Meaning of AMOLED Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode is an advanced version of OLED display technology that uses an active matrix technology to control each individual pixel. An AMOLED display uses a thin-film transistor (TFT) to control each pixel.

In simple words, it means that AMOLED display has all the features of OLED display but it consumes less power. This is its one plus point.

OLED Vs AMOLED Display: AMOLED is considered better than OLED for phone displays. An AMOLED display can quickly turn on or off each individual pixel, giving it complete control over the display’s output. At the same time, the OLED panel controls the pixels according to the line. By doing this work immediately of AMOLED, the image quality comes better. AMOLED is better than OLED in terms of color accuracy and power efficiency. This gives the phone good battery life if the software and hardware are good in it.

LCD vs OLED Display: LCDs use a backlight to illuminate the pixels, while OLED and AMOLED displays have self-emissive pixels that emit light individually to each pixel. OLED and AMOLED displays provide better image quality with mostly light colors and true blacks, but they can be more expensive to manufacture. On the other hand, LCD is more economical, but the visual experience is less better than OLED.
