District administration reached the house of 60 year old Ramchandra Ram who ran away in Palamu, know what is the whole matter

Palamu, Saikat Chatterjee: An instruction from the Election Commission changed the life of 60 year old Ramchandra. The people of Ramchandra’s village were stunned when they saw that many senior officials including the Deputy Commissioner had come to the village. Ramchandra and his family were also stunned.

People were stunned to see the Deputy Commissioner in Azad Nagar of Palamu.

The matter is of Medininagar in Palamu district. 60 year old Ramchandra Ram lives with his family in Azad Nagar on the banks of Koel river. On Tuesday, when many senior officials including DC reached his house, the entire family was stunned. Ramchandra and his family members were not able to understand anything. It was hard to believe that the highest official of the district, the Deputy Commissioner himself, had come to his house.

A crowd of people gathered near Ramchandra’s house, everyone was shocked.

The whole neighborhood was shocked. Everyone had gathered near Ramchandra Ram’s house. They were discussing among themselves. Trying to understand what the matter was. Later it was revealed that Palamu Deputy Commissioner Ramchandra reached Ram’s house after receiving instructions from Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar. The entire government department was with him.

Family members told DC – Ramchandra Ram is blind

The Chief Electoral Officer had received information that Ramchandra Ram, a resident of Palamu, was blind since birth. He has not received the benefit of any scheme till now. Even his voter and Aadhaar cards have not been made. Voter card has not been made, hence he has not voted till date. When the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand received this information, he immediately took cognizance of it. The DC of Palamu, who is also the District Election Officer, was instructed to investigate and resolve this matter.

Deputy Commissioner of Palamu asked- how is Ramchandra

As soon as the order of CEO Jharkhand was received, Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan reached Azad Nagar with his staff. When DC reached there, Ramchandra was sleeping. The family woke him up. When Ramchandra woke up, the Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer asked him – how is Ramchandra. Family members told DC that he is blind. He also has trouble hearing. Can hear only loud sounds. After this the Deputy Commissioner took complete information from the family members. Said that now Ramchandra Ram will get all the facilities available to disabled voters. He will also be able to exercise his franchise.

Aadhaar and voter card is being made

The DC has sought an immediate report from the SDO and asked him to explain how Ramchandra’s name did not appear in the voter list and the disability list. Also give an investigation report as to the circumstances under which their Aadhar Card and Voter Card were not made. Besides, instructions were also given to issue show cause notice to the concerned employees. After the order of DC, immediately under the supervision of Sadar CO, the employees started the work of making Aadhaar cards on the spot and adding names in the voter list.

Ramchandra Ram’s bank account will be opened, medicines will also be available

When the Election Commission took cognizance of Ramchandra Ram’s case, the district administration ran away. On the initiative of the administration, the bank account of Ramchandra Ram will also be opened at the age of 60. Also, as soon as the code of conduct is over, other facilities including pension will start being available. DC has ordered the Civil Surgeon to send an ambulance to get Ramchandra Ram’s eyes and ears examined and to provide hearing aids and necessary medicines.

Now we will definitely vote

When the Election Commission took cognizance and the district administration reached the village, a different kind of happiness was seen among the people of the locality. After the process of adding Ramchandra’s name in the voter list and getting his voter and Aadhaar cards started, the people of the locality said that today we understood the importance of voting. Earlier, whenever we felt like it, we used to vote. If you didn’t feel like it, you wouldn’t have voted. Now we have understood the importance of voting, we will definitely vote.

Sukhli Devi is the wife of Ramchandra Ram’s younger brother. She is the one who takes care of Ramchandra. Sukhli Devi, who earns her living by working at home, at first did not understand why so many people and vehicles had come to her house. When she was told the whole story, she cried. Sukhli told that she had been wandering from here to there for about eight years to get Bhaisur’s Aadhar card made and to open a bank account. His work could not be done. Crying, Sukhli Devi told the Deputy Commissioner – Johar Commission. Because of you our dream came true.

Voting will be held in Palamu, Jharkhand on May 13.
