Election Commission reprimands Dilip Ghosh for derogatory remarks


WB News: The Election Commission on Monday booked a Bharatiya Janata Party leader for derogatory remarks against the dignity of women. Dilip Ghosh And Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinet has been reprimanded. Ghosh had made objectionable remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Shrinate made objectionable remarks against actress Kangana Ranaut. The Commission said it is convinced that the two leaders made a low level personal attack and this is a violation of the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct. They have been warned to exercise caution in public statements during the period of the Model Code of Conduct.

Commission gave strict warning to Dilip Ghosh

The Commission has given a strict warning to Dilip Ghosh and said that if he says anything publicly in future, he should be very careful. The Commission today published a 4-page circular. Dilip Ghosh has been repeatedly attacked for explaining the Model Code of Conduct clearly. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP has made Dilip Ghosh its candidate not from Medinipur but from Burdwan-Durgapur. Last Tuesday, during the election campaign there, he had used abusive language in the name of the woman Chief Minister of the state. The BJP candidate from Burdwan-Durgapur has been instructed to maintain control over the use of language in public meetings or while speaking in public.

Dilip Ghosh had expressed regret for making controversial remarks
A controversial comment against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut was posted on the social media platform from Srinet’s ‘Instagram’ account. After the controversy, Shrinate had removed the controversial comments from all his social accounts. He said that many people have access to his account and this comment was not made by him.
Ghosh was seen in a video making fun of the family background of Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He later apologized for his controversial remarks.
