Finn said in his statement – Today I am retiring from all forms of cricket with immediate effect. I have been fighting a battle with my body for the last 12 months and I have given up. I feel fortunate to be able to play cricket as my vocation since making my debut for Middlesex in 2005. This journey is very long.
An honor to share the dressing room with the best people
He further said- Playing 125 matches including 36 Tests for England is better than my dream. I retire having shared some wonderful memories with England, Middlesex and Sussex. It is an honor to share the dressing room with the best people. Finn broke into the international team in 2005, making his first-class debut for Middlesex.
He made his Test debut against Bangladesh in 2010 before making his ODI debut the following year. He took 125 wickets in 36 Test matches and managed to win the Ashes thrice in his career. In ODI cricket, he took 102 wickets in 69 matches and also played in the 2015 World Cup. After playing for Middlesex for most of his career, the Finn made a move to Sussex in 2022 and played 19 matches before suffering an injury.
He made a comeback in an ODI cup game against Durham earlier this month but had to walk off the field after bowling only four overs. The 34-year-old also featured in 21 T20 Internationals but last played an ODI for England in 2017, just before the Champions Trophy. Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace said about him – I have seen him from a young bowler to a three-time Ashes winner
