Hyderabad: England won the toss and decided to bat first against India in the first match of the five-Test series on Thursday. Today at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here, England captain Ben Stokes said, “We would like to bat first. Our preparation has been good for this series. We are aware of the challenges because India is a strong team.” Stokes had announced his eleven in the press conference yesterday itself, while Indian captain Rohit Sharma has named the eleven at the time of toss.
After the toss, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma said, “We too would have liked to bat first. I am playing a 5 test match series for the first time. It was very difficult to keep Kuldeep Yadav out. Therefore, we will take the field with the trio of Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar because with Axar we get depth in batting.
