Arsenal have 73 points from 30 matches, while second-placed City have 70 points from the same number of matches. Manchester. Erling Haaland equaled the record for most goals in a single English Premier League (EPL) season by scoring twice as Manchester City beat Leicester 3-1 here on Saturday. The win left defending champions City just three points behind leaders Arsenal. Arsenal have 73 points from 30 matches, while second-placed City have 70 points from the same number of matches. Haaland only played until half-time against Leicester but the Norway international scored twice in that period. He scored one goal on penalty while the second goal was scored on Kevin De Bruyne’s throw ball.
Haaland now has 32 goals in the current season, equaling Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah who scored the most goals in a 38-match EPL season in 2017-18. Haaland will have the chance to break the 42-match season record of 34 goals. This record is held by Andy Cole (in 1993–94 for Newcastle) and Alan Shearer (in 1994–95 for Blackburn). Chelsea, meanwhile, suffered a 1-2 defeat at home to Brighton, their third straight defeat under Frank Lampard.
