Exclusive: I do not consider the single Sabki Baaraatein Aayi as a remake song – Sipi Jha

Lyricist and singer CP Jha is in the news these days for her single Sabki Baaraatein Aayi 2. This single of his is the sequel of his popular single Sabki Baraatein Aayi. Urmila Kori’s conversation on this song and her career.

Was there more pressure regarding Sabki Baraatein 2 because the first one was quite popular?

Yes, it was a lot, because for the first time I feel that a sequel was being made, so there was definitely a pressure. Will we live up to everyone’s expectations or not because the first one was liked a lot by the people. In this single, the bride is getting married, so as a singer, it was not easy to match the vibe of the previous song and as a lyricist, it was not easy to write the song keeping the current situation in mind.

By the way, was the idea of making this song of music company Tips or yours?

When the first song crossed 220 million, everyone had said that we will do a future version of it. Although many people said that it would be challenging. There will be comparisons from remake to remake. It took some time to accept things and then I felt that I had to do it. It did not take much time to write because Kumar ji of Tips was very clear that he wanted the vision of a bride in the song. What is going on in his mind? If she can dance happily, then she will also be emotional. This is the reason why the song also takes on an emotional track later on. Everything will be fine. As I am thinking. It will happen like that, right? This also comes to her mind like a common bride.

Do things become easier when you are associated with songs as a singer as well as a lyricist?

Yes, it becomes easy. If I am the lyricist of the song, then I have lived that song to some extent, then it becomes easier for me to give my voice to the song because I understand the feelings.

Do you think that like the first song, this one will also get as much love from the people?

Every singer wants that his song should be heard and appreciated by as many people as possible. Well, every song has its own destiny. Right now the beginning is looking good.

This song of yours is also a remake, people’s opinion is divided regarding the remake, what do you think?

Yes, I often hear this question from people that how can you, being a 90’s kid, support the remake. There is nothing to support the remake, as much as they are sad that the songs are being changed or the songs are being tampered with. We too feel equally sad. That’s why what we do or what our team does is that we just take taglines. Everyone’s Baraatein was an emotional song, but ours was not like that. We just take the tagline. We changed the emotional song into a happy dance number so that the comparison could be eliminated. This is the reason why we got so much love from people. Those are completely different songs.

There was a time when playback singers were considered singers, how much has independent music changed the situation?

When we started. At that time people did not consider you a singer. If you have not sung in films. No matter how much talent you have. You do so many good shows. Even today, for people of my time, singing for films is the identity of a singer. Today’s youth is different. Social media has promoted independence music. Personally, I would like to do both.

What has been your background and struggles?

I am from Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. I am from a small town, so if you wanted to go to Mumbai and do something in the music industry, people would start making fun of you. I have also faced people’s mockery. This is the reason why along with dreaming, we also started training. Took training in classical music. We also tried through reality singing shows. There was a time when Indian Idol auditions were being conducted through Airtel, but where we were, there was no mobile tower at that time. We were a small group. We went 100 kilometers away from there and gave an audition, although we were not selected but we continued trying. In 2008, after completing my post graduate studies, I came to Mumbai to fight. Raj from our group was already struggling in Mumbai. We started an ad agency together. She left and arrangements for our stay and food in Mumbai were made. We also got married. Kept doing small and big projects. I had to wait for 9 years. First major success came from 2019 Jutti single. After that got the song Sabki Baraatein.

Upcoming projects?

A fun dance number is coming in a film in my voice. The announcement of that film is awaited, then I will talk about it.
