History of Honda CBR150R

The CBR150R was introduced by Honda as the successor to the 2-stroke NSR150. It has been launched in Thai market since 2002 and exported to many Asian countries and South Africa. A.P. Honda introduced a new fuel-injected (PGM-FI) version in 2010, which was less powerful than the carburetted version. The design was shared with the 2011 CBR250R, which in turn has been borrowed from the VFR1200F sports tourer. The CBR150R went on sale in India in March 2012. In 2014, Honda updated the CBR150R with a body design similar to the CBR300R, inspired by the 2012 CBR1000RR. This update was implemented only in the Indonesian market, while other markets retained the old design. This model is also made locally by Astra Honda Motor.

In 2016, Honda introduced a completely updated version of the CBR150R, which gets a body inspired by the 2016 CBR500R. This variant also gets a new engine configuration since its introduction in 2002. Like the 2014 edition, this edition is made and sold in Indonesia, and exported to the Philippines. In 2018, the ABS option was made available in Indonesia with a slightly restyled body. This version is also sold in Thailand from 2018, replacing the previous locally assembled 2010 version.

Features of CBR150R

It gets the same 149 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC single-cylinder engine as the CBR150R, which produces 16.3 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 13.7 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. The diamond frame of the motorcycle hangs on an upside down fork at the front, and a monoshock setup at the rear. The braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes at both the ends along with dual-channel ABS. The CBR150R rides on 17-inch wheels, which are wrapped in 100/80 front and 130/70 rear section tyres. There is also all-LED lighting and an LCD display.
