Mexico City. The United States and Mexico have informed the International Football Federation (FIFA) that they will submit bids to co-host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
“The United States has always been a global country for women’s sports, and we look forward to co-hosting the world’s premier event for women’s soccer with Mexico,” US Soccer Federation (USSF) President Sidi Parlow Cone said in a statement released Wednesday. The USSF and the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) have until May 19 to formally submit their bid documents.
The US has previously hosted the Women’s World Cup in 1999 and 2003, while Mexico has never hosted the top event before. Women’s football in Mexico has shown steady growth over the past five years, said FMF president Yon de Luisa. Its development is one of the strategic priorities of the FMF. Notably, Mexico, the United States and Canada will co-host the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 2026.
