Kana Urata scored a goal for Japan
For Japan, Kana Urata converted a penalty corner in the sixth minute. This lead of Japan remained intact till the end. The Indian team was able to score even a single goal in the entire match. India got nine penalty corners in the match but could not score a single goal. The final match will be played between Germany and Japan. Both the countries would like to defeat each other for the gold medal. Although both the teams have already qualified for the Olympics.
India lost to Germany in the semi-finals
In its pool games, India had won two out of three matches and secured a place in the semi-finals. But the team had to face defeat in the semi-finals also. The Indian women’s team stood fourth in the Tokyo Olympics and something similar happened in this tournament too. After this defeat, Indian women’s hockey team captain Savita Punia said that I really have nothing to say on this defeat. We have missed many penalty corner opportunities. Couldn’t convert it into a goal. We cannot correct this mistake but our team worked hard till the last minute. We could not capitalize on the opportunities. At the same time, on the defeat, the coach of the Indian team said that the mistake we made earlier with Germany, we made the same mistake today also.
