FIH Pro League: India made a comeback after losing to Netherlands, beat Argentina 3-0

FIH Hockey Pro League: After suffering a loss against hosts Netherlands, the Indian men’s hockey team returned to winning ways in the FIH Pro League with a 3-0 win over Rio Olympic champions Argentina in a one-sided contest on Thursday. After taking a one-goal lead in the last match, India had to face a 1-4 defeat at the hands of the Netherlands, but after this victory, India again regained the top spot in the points table.
India again occupied the top position
Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a penalty corner for India in the 33rd minute. Six minutes later, Amit Rohidas converted another penalty corner. Abhishek scored the third goal in the 59th minute which was a field goal. After this victory, India has reached the top with 27 points from 14 matches while Britain has 26 points from 12 matches. India now has to play the Netherlands again in the next match on Saturday.
Could not score a single goal in the first quarter
Argentina were on the offensive early in the first quarter. The Olympic champions forced India into defending errors in the D in the third minute itself, leading to a penalty corner, but the team made the most of the opportunity Could not pick up India retaliated swiftly, gaining possession of the ball and Abhishek took a brilliant shot, but the ball hit the post. Argentina looked dangerous in their attack but India’s defense remained strong thanks to two brilliant saves by experienced goalkeeper PR Sreejesh.
Harampreet and Amit scored goals in the third quarter
After no goal in the first quarter, India started the second quarter on a positive note and kept the pressure on. Young strikers Karthi Selvam, Abhishek and Sukhjit Singh took turns creating field goal chances but to no avail, while Argentina kept Krishan Pathak busy at the post. He landed some strong strikes in the circle but Pathak continued to put up some sharp defence. At the same time, in less than three minutes in the third quarter, India scored its first PC goal. Harmanpreet Singh executed a perfect drag-flick to score. After this, in the 39th minute, Amit Rohidas gave India a 2-0 lead with a brilliant PC.
