According to the fire department, the fire started at 11:50 pm on Wednesday. Initial investigation has found that the fire broke out from the short circuit. The fire was huge and it took firefighters more than an hour to bring it under control. Due to this fire incident, the false ceiling of the dressing room has burnt a lot.
Apart from this, a lot of stuff kept in the dressing room was also burnt. At the same time, the equipment used by the cricketers got damaged. After the incident of this fire, the communication of the entire Eden Gardens has been cut off.
Eden Gardens will have 5 World Cup matches
The Eden Gardens in Kolkata has got to host five matches in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. One of these five matches is also of the semi-finals.
