Mumbai West Bengal’s Shyamali Singh defied all odds to win a bronze medal at the Tata Mumbai Marathon on Sunday even though she had undergone an operation for her brain tumor a few years ago. Four years ago, in the same competition, Shyamali had complained of vomiting half way through the 42 kilometer distance. Her husband Santosh Singh and she found that this was happening continuously. After several tests in different hospitals, he found out the cause of the problem which was ‘brain tumor’.
Santosh told the media after the 19th leg of the ‘Gold Label Race’, “He participated in the TCS race and won the silver medal. Then he took part in Mumbai. After 25-26 kilometers she started vomiting. The pressure on the brain would increase but we did not know. ”He faced a lot of financial crisis in the last few years. Disclosing this, Santosh said that but Shyamali stuck to her goal and kept improving herself.
