Fitness Test: Due date of fitness test required for heavy vehicles, passenger vehicles extended


Fitness Test: The government has extended the date of mandatory fitness testing for heavy goods vehicles and passenger motor vehicles through a registered Automatic Testing Station (ATS) by 18 months to October 1, 2024. The government has extended the date of mandatory fitness test through registered Automated Testing Stations (ATS) for heavy goods and passenger motor vehicles by 18 months to October 1, 2024.

Earlier, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had said that it would be mandatory from April 1, 2023, to conduct fitness test of heavy goods and passenger motor vehicles through ATS. While this requirement for medium-sized goods vehicles, medium-sized passenger motor vehicles and light motor vehicles (transport) was already June 1, 2024.

In view of the current status of ATS readiness across the country, the Ministry has decided to introduce ATS for Heavy Goods Vehicles/ Heavy Passenger Motor Vehicles, Medium Goods Vehicles/ Medium Passenger Motor Vehicles and Light Motor Vehicles (Transport) through ATS, the ministry said in a statement.
