Chennai Super Kings said in its official release that MS Dhoni has handed over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings to batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad before the start of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). Ruturaj has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in the IPL during this period. MS Dhoni led CSK in 212 IPL matches. He won 128 matches and lost 82. Since making his debut for CSK in 2019, Gaikwad has scored 1,797 runs at an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 135.52. He has scored one century and 14 half-centuries. Gaikwad’s best score in IPL is 101 runs not out. Big innings are expected from Gaikwad in this season also.
