In January, Virat Kohli made his T20 comeback in the three-match series against Afghanistan, where he scored 29 and 0 in the two matches after not playing the shortest format of the game since the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-finals.

The move saw the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee signal its intention to include Kohli and Rohit Sharma back into the T20 lineup, indicating their willingness to do so for the T20 World Cup. Srikkanth talked about Kohli’s vital role in the team’s success and highlighted his performance in the last T20 World Cup, where he played a key role in taking India to the semi-finals.
