Former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will have to appear in court on July 18, summons issued

A Delhi court has acquitted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) outgoing president of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh Has been summoned on 18 July. The court said that there is enough evidence to proceed with the case against the accused. Taking cognizance of the charge sheet, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal directed Brij Bhushan to appear before the court on July 18.

Vinod Tomar was also summoned

The court also summoned Vinod Tomar, suspended assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation, along with Indian Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The city police have registered a case against Brij Bhushan under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was filed on June 15.

Demand to cancel poxo case against Brij Bhushan

Tomar was charged with offenses under IPC sections 109 (abetment of an offence), 354, 354A and 506 (criminal intimidation). Earlier, after investigating the allegations of a minor, the Delhi Police had given an application in the court to quash the case against Singh under the POCSO Act. On which, while hearing this week, the court has directed the victim and her father to record their statements.

Now protesting wrestlers will fight in court

The Patiala House Court has directed the victim and her father to record their statements by August 1. Let us tell you that Brij Bhushan has been facing opposition from many top wrestlers since the beginning of this year. Medalist wrestlers of the country like Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat opened a front against Brij Bhushan and also staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar for several months. Wrestlers are now talking about fighting this fight in the court.
