Pudhari Online: India’s former opening batsman Gautam Gambhir will be the ‘mentor’ of Shah Rukh Khan co-owned Kolkata Knight Riders outfit in the upcoming IPL clash of 2024. Gautam Gambhir has worked as a ‘mentor’ of Lucknow Super Giants organization. Aata, he has left the post of ‘mentor’ of Lucknow Sangh. Aata has been added to Kolkata Knight Riders. Gautam Gambhir was the captain of the team when Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL in 2012 and 2014. “I am not an emotional person and many things do not trigger me. But this is different,” Gambhir said in a statement. “Hey all the seeds start flowing there are layers. Today, once again when I think of wearing the jersey in the colors of Jambhala and Sonya, my throat chokes and my heart fills.”
Gambhir, who was part of the T20 (2007) and ODI (2011) World Cup-winning squad, would have joined Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and would have remained with the squad till 2017. During this period, KKR qualified for the IPL playoffs five times (including both years they won the competition) and reached the final of the Champions League T20 in 2014.
“Gautam has always been a part of our family and continues to be our captain in a different form as a ‘mentor’,” KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, aka X, said in the post. “Tyachi would have been very promising and we are looking forward to creating magic with the KKR Sangha due to the never-say-die spirit of Sarvajan Chandu (Chandrakant Pandit) sir and Gautam and the players standing behind them.”(Gautam Gambhir KKR Mentor IPL 2024)
Kolkata Knight Riders has been one of the teams that has been a part of every IPL since its inception in 2008.
