Global Chess League released its official logo

New Delhi: The official logo of the Global Chess League (GCL), a joint effort of world chess body FIDE and Tech Mahindra, was released on Wednesday, which resembles the 64 mines of the game. The logo was released 64 days before the launch of this one-of-a-kind league. There are a total of 64 squares on a chess board.
GCL is the world’s biggest and first chess league which will be organized from June 21 to July 2. A total of six teams will participate in the GCL for the first time. Each team will have six players including two women players and one icon player. Five-time world champion and GCL mentor Viswanathan Anand said, “As we get closer to the start of the tournament, we are seeing that all our plans are coming to fruition. The GCL logo reflects our vision for the tournament.
The tournament will be played in rapid format on round robin basis. Each team will play 10 matches with the top two teams facing each other in the final. The final will be played on July 2 and the winning team will be crowned the World Champion franchise team.
