Great performance by Harmanpreet-Mandeep, Indian hockey team defeated Singapore 16-1

Hangzhou. The Indian men’s team achieved its second consecutive win by defeating Singapore 16-1 in the men’s hockey competition on Tuesday.

Star drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh opened his account with a goal in the 24th minute of the Pool A match at the GSP Hockey Stadium and then completed his hat-trick by converting penalty corners in the 39th, 40th and 42nd minutes.

In this match, Indian men’s hockey team’s forward Abhishek, who was named in the initial playing-11. He also completed his 50 international caps.

Mandeep Singh (12′, 30′, 51′) also scored a hat-trick, while Abhishek (51′, 52′) and Varun Kumar (55′, 55′) scored two goals each.

Whereas, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (16′), Gurjant Singh (22′), Vivek Sagar Prasad (23′), Manpreet Singh (37′) and Shamsher Singh (38′) scored one goal each. Whereas the only goal for Singapore was scored by Zaki Zulqarnain (53′).

Indian hockey team’s excellent performance continues in the Asian Games. After registering a resounding 16-0 win against Uzbekistan in their first match on Sunday, India now achieved a big win against Singapore too.

Now India will face defending Asian Games champion Japan on Thursday. The Indian hockey team, ranked third in the world, has performed brilliantly in its initial matches. Now, it is going to be very interesting to see whether India will be successful in maintaining its dominance against Japan as well or not.
