Gujarat Titans won by defeating Mumbai Indians by six runs in a thrilling match – Dainik Savera Times

Ahmedabad : Thanks to the innings of Sai Sudarshan 45 runs and captain Shubman Gill’s 31 runs and then the brilliant performance of the bowlers in the last overs, Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians by six runs in the fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday. Chasing the target of 169 runs, Mumbai had a very poor start and lost the wicket of opener Ishan Kishan in the very first over. He could not even open his account.

Umarzai got him caught out by Saha. After this, in the third over itself, Umarzai gave the second blow to Mumbai by LBWing Naman Dheer for 20 runs in 10 balls. The third wicket fell in the form of captain Rohit Sharma who was LBW by Saikishore in the 13th over. Rohit played an inning of 43 runs in 29 balls with the help of seven fours and one six. At one time when Rohit and Dewald were batting, it seemed that Mumbai would easily win the match.

But after the dismissal of Rohit and Dewald, Mumbai’s innings fell apart and no batsman could survive the last overs. Dewald Brevis scored unbeaten 46 runs in 38 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. Tilak Verma was out after scoring 25 runs in 19 balls, Tim David was out after scoring 11 runs, Captain Hardik Pandya was out after scoring 11 runs, Gerald Coetzee was out after scoring one run. Mumbai team could score only 162 runs for nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by six runs.

For Gujarat Titans, Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson and Mohit Sharma took two wickets each. Sai Kishore dismissed one batsman. Earlier, on the basis of Sai Sudarshan’s 45 runs and captain Shubman Gill’s 31 runs, Gujarat Titans have given the target of 169 runs to Mumbai Indians to win. Today at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The opening pair of Wriddhiman Saha and captain Shubman Gill, who came to bat, added 31 runs for the first wicket. In the fourth over, Jasprit Bumrah gave the first blow to Gujarat Titans by dismissing Wriddhiman Saha for 19 runs. After that, in the eighth over, Shubhman Gill was caught out by Piyush Chawal at the hands of Rohit Sharma. Gill played an innings of 31 runs in 22 balls with the help of three fours and one six. Azmatullah Umarzai scored 17 runs in 11 balls.

David Miller was out after scoring 12 runs and Rahul Tewatia was out after scoring 22 runs in 15 balls. Sai Sudarshan scored the highest score of 45 runs for the team with the help of three fours and one six in 39 balls. Vijay Shankar remained unbeaten on six runs and Rashid Khan remained unbeaten on four runs. Gujarat team scored 168 runs for six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets for Mumbai Indians. Gerald Coetzee got two wickets. Piyush Chawla dismissed one batsman.
