Mumbai: All-rounder Hardik Pandya, in a bid to regain fitness for the World Cup matches last year, resorted to drastic measures like taking multiple injections and having blood clots removed from his ankle, but this worsened the injury and the Indian player was forced to miss the ODI World Cup. Had to sit out. Pandya limped off the field after bowling his first over in India’s fourth match against Bangladesh during the World Cup. He could not return to the team after this.
He told Star Sports, I got injections in three different places on my heel and due to swelling I had to get blood drawn from my ankle. I didn’t want to give up (on playing the remaining matches of the World Cup). I always want to give my best for the team. If there is even one percent possibility of returning to the team, I try my best. Pandya said that he knew that working hard could yield adverse results. He took this risk to return to the team during the World Cup played on home soil.
