New Delhi. Harmanpreet Kaur wielded her bat and wrote such a script that everyone became her fan. The excitement of WPL is increasing with every match. One such exciting match was played between Gujarat and Mumbai on Saturday where Harmanpreet played an unbeaten and match-winning inning of 95 runs. Chasing 191 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday, Harmanpreet scored 91 runs in the last six overs to help Mumbai chase down the target of 191 with one ball to spare, which is now the most successful chase in the history of the competition.
Harmanpreet showed such great effort with her bat that surely anyone would have enjoyed watching it. With his innings, he helped Mumbai Indians to a seven-wicket victory over Gujarat Giants and also qualified for the playoffs of WPL 2024. Harmanpreet hit 5 sixes and 10 fours during her unbeaten inning of 95 runs in 48 balls.
Harmanpreet now holds the record for the highest score by an Indian batsman in the WPL. Before the strategic time-out at the end of the 13th over, Harmanpreet was on 18 runs with the help of two fours in 19 balls. After this, he made a spectacular victory possible by scoring 77 runs in the next 29 balls.
After the match, Harmanpreet said on Geo Cinema, ‘There is no mystery in it, it is all about calculations. At the international level, everyone knows how the run chase is calculated. If the scoreboard demands 10 runs in an over, you will bat accordingly. There is no particular mantra that I can say I have used to achieve this.
He also felt that all-rounder Sajna Sajeevan helped bring her back into the game by dismissing captain Beth Mooney, as a result of which Gujarat faced difficulties in the final overs and the team could only reach 190 runs. Harmanpreet said, ‘In the first 10 overs, we gave too many runs. But when Sajeevan Sajna dismissed Beth, the momentum started shifting in our direction. Especially the last four to five overs were good for us.
