Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Harshit Rana was fined 60 per cent of his match fee for violating the IPL code of conduct during their four-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. According to the Indian Premier League (IPL) statement, Rana violated the rules of Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct on Saturday.
“He was fined 10 per cent and 50 per cent of his match fee for two breaches,” it said. However, the IPL statement did not elaborate on the incident that led to his breach of the code of conduct. But this could be because of the way he celebrated after Mayank Agarwal’s wicket. After dismissing Agarwal in the sixth over, Rana approached the Sunrisers Hyderabad opener and gave him a ‘flying kiss’.
“Rana committed two Level 1 violations under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” the IPL statement said. Accordingly, “Rana accepted both violations and the penalty imposed by the match referee.” The match referee’s decision for Level 1 violations is final and valid.” Rana had given victory to KKR by performing brilliantly in the last over.
