Herman Kruis appointed coach of Indian junior men’s, women’s teams | Loktej Sports News

New Delhi, 8 August (Hindustan Times). Hockey India on Tuesday appointed Hermann Kruis, who has over two decades of coaching experience, as the coach of the Indian junior men’s and women’s hockey teams.

During his stint in India, he will oversee the preparations of the Indian junior men’s and women’s teams ahead of the FIH Men’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2023 in Malaysia and the FIH Women’s Junior Hockey World Cup 2023 in Santiago later this year. Kruis, who hails from the Netherlands, has served as head coach with Den Bosch Ladies – a club based in the Netherlands – and won the European Cup eight times in a row during his tenure.

Kruis was the national head coach of the Netherlands Indoor Women’s Hockey Team between 2006 and 2008 and of the Netherlands Outdoor Team between 2008 and 2010, said an official release issued by Hockey India. 2023 was the national head coach of the Belarus Indoor and Outdoor Teams. Kruis is a certified FIH coach-educator.

Dilip Tirkey, President, Hockey India said, “Hockey India is delighted to welcome eminent senior coach Hermann Kruis to our national program for the junior teams. He will be overseeing the ongoing preparations for the junior men’s and women’s teams and I believe his experience will further boost our chances at the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup 2023. He will work closely with Indian junior women’s team coach Tushar Khandkar and junior men’s team coach CR Kumar. Kruis said he is looking forward to his new role at Hockey India.
