Hockey India appoints Harman Cruz as High Performance Director

Hockey India on Tuesday announced the appointment of Netherlands’ Herman Cruijs as the new High Performance Director. He has been appointed to this post till September. Cruise will oversee Hockey India’s national junior and senior programs including coach education programmes, among other functions.
Cruz, from the Netherlands, has over two decades of coaching experience and was previously appointed coach of the Indian junior men’s and junior women’s hockey teams, leading them to the FIH Men’s Junior World Cup and FIH Women’s Junior World Cup respectively. To keep an eye on the team’s preparations. Cruz has also been the head coach of Netherlands club ‘Den Bosch Ladies’ and under his guidance the team won the European Cup eight consecutive times.
He was the head coach of the Netherlands women’s indoor hockey team from 2006 to 2008, while from 2008 to 2010 he took over as the coach of the national outdoor team. He was the head coach of the Belarus indoor and outdoor national teams from 2016 to August 2023. Cruz is an FIH certified coach-teacher. Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey said, “He will look after the various programs run by Hockey India including junior and senior team programmes.”
Expressing his delight on his appointment, Cruz said, “The Indian teams are on the cusp of making history and I look forward to using my expertise to help the teams and Hockey India achieve this year’s goals.
