Hockey: Indian hockey team leaves for Spain for four-nation tournament, first match to be held on July 25

The Indian team will start their campaign against Spain on 25th July and then play against Netherlands on 26th July. India will take on England on July 28 in their final match of the round robin stage. The final of the tournament will be played on 30 July. This tournament is very important for India in view of the preparations for the Asian Champions Trophy and subsequent Asian Games.

Before the departure of the Indian team, Captain Harmanpreet Singh said, ‘The tour of four countries is an opportunity for our team to test themselves against the top countries of the world. Spain, Netherlands and England have been in good form last year and we will look to get favorable results on the tour to ensure that our team finds momentum ahead of the all-important Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023. While speaking on the upcoming tournament, the head coach of the Indian men’s hockey team, Craig Fulton said, ‘We are looking forward to implementing our plans and structure in the upcoming matches in Spain. It is a momentous year for us with the prestigious Hero Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023 and the momentous Hangzhou Asian Games 2023. We have worked on the areas in the camp where we need to improve and we will focus on our strengths on the Spain tour to get positive results.
