New Delhi. Indian men’s hockey team’s forward player Sukhjit Singh is very happy to represent India in the 19th Asian Games starting from 23rd September in Hangzhou, China.
Representing the country for the first time in this tournament, the Jalandhar player has 43 international matches and 13 goals to his name.
The 26-year-old expressed immense happiness on representing the country and said, “It feels like a dream that I will represent India in the Asian Games. I am proud to wear the Indian jersey in the Asian Games. Everyone in my family Somebody was very happy to hear the news that I am part of the team.
He further added, “My father’s dream was to see me play at the highest level and here I am now. It is a feeling that I cannot express in words. It is all because of my efforts and the wishes of my family that I am here and representing India in the Asian Games.
Sukhjeet also talked about the team’s preparation ahead of the Asian Games. He said preparations are going well under the guidance of Craig Fulton. We are working on our weaknesses and making sure that we don’t make the same mistakes again.
“I have been with the team for the last one-and-a-half years and the senior players in the team are very good. They guide us and also help us improve our game,” he added.
Eyeing direct qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Indian men’s hockey team will begin their Asian Games campaign against Uzbekistan on 24 September 2023.
