Chennai (Best Hindu News): Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained calm and patient as he set out to determine his future endeavours. After guiding Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the IPL 2023 final with a win over defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1, Dhoni said he has enough time to decide whether he will be an IPL captain. Will play more versions.
Chennai defeated Gujarat by 15 runs in Qualifier-1 at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday night. With this win, the Super Kings have reached a record 10th IPL final. There has been speculation about Dhoni’s possible retirement since the start of the 2023 IPL, with hints indicating that this edition could mark his last appearance in the IPL.
When he went for a chat at the post-match presentation, there were chants of Dhoni Dhoni from the huge Chepauk crowd. When Harsha Bhogle asked Dhoni if fans can see him next year, the CSK skipper said that with 8 or 9 months left for the upcoming mini-auction, he has enough time to decide on his future in the IPL. Is.
Dhoni said, “I don’t know. I have 8-9 months to decide. The short auction will take place around December. So why take on that headache now? I have enough time to decide. But, I will always be there for CSK whether it is in playing stage or sitting somewhere outside. I really don’t know.”
Expressing his enduring association with CSK, Dhoni confirmed that he would continue to be associated with the team, be it as a player or as a member of the support staff.
He said, “Frankly, it takes a heavy toll. I have been out of home for literally 4 months now. January 31st was the time when I got out of work and started practicing in March. It takes a lot of time but I have enough time to take a decision.”
Talking about reaching a record 10th IPL final, Dhoni said, “I think IPL is too big to say it is another final. Not to forget that there used to be 8 teams to compete with the best players in the world available in the world. Now it’s 10 teams, it’s even tougher, it’s more than 2 months of hard work that’s why we are standing here.”
“Everyone has contributed. The middle order hasn’t got enough opportunities, but everyone in the middle has had a chance and they have done that. So, we are very happy where we are.”
Dhoni acknowledged his propensity for being a dynamic captain, admitting that he can be considered “difficult” because of his frequent change of bowlers and fielding positions according to match conditions.
“You watch the wicket, you watch the conditions, and you keep adjusting the field. I can be a difficult captain because I tend to move the fielder a foot or two every now and then. So the fielder needs to keep an eye on me.”
“It can be frustrating but I believe in myself. That’s why I keep asking the fielders to keep an eye on me.”
